Aluminium Bay Window, Entrance Door with Side Light and Bi-folding Door, Modernises 1980’s Coastal Home

Relocating from Oxfordshire to Devon, the now owners of this property were on the search for a 4 bedroom home, not too far from the coast and not afraid of a little work.

Background

This coastal home in Exmouth hadn’t been touched since the original owners bought the house new in the 1980’s, and was therefore in need of major renovations.

The Project

The new owners felt that the original dark brown timber windows, with hatched lead piping, restricted the light which came into the property making the rooms feel dark and cold.

Originally the family were thinking of white PVCu windows, but felt they would stand out like a sore thumb amongst the dark brown in the street. After having researched the different options available, the owners decided that grey aluminium windows would be perfect. As they would modernise the look of the property, whilst still being respectful to its neighbours.

Products

Having being recommended Aspect Windows, the couple booked a showroom appointment with one of our advisers. Where the couple discussed their requirements and tested out the various products.

The couple decided upon a bi-folding door for the rear of the property, to replace the existing sliding door which had become incredibly hard to open, close and lock. All windows were to be replaced with aluminium, including the bay window, in anthracite grey. A contemporary front door with side light was chosen for the porch extension and a simple single door with a mid-rail for the back door.

“The new windows really have let a lot more light into our home, our rooms now feel big, bright and airy” said Jenna. “We are also extremely pleased with our new bi-folding doors, we love being able to open them fully and have un-restricted access to the garden. The finger safe gaskets are also fantastic it means no little fingers get trapped!”
