This 3-storey, newly build home sits in an elevated position, enjoying views over the South Hams coast. A modern build, built and finished to an incredibly high standard by local contractors Lilburn and Elliott.
The glazing has a large impact on the overall design of the property. With the front of the property largely glazed in order to make the most of the views. Combining sliding doors, gable frame windows and fixed full height windows.
Originally bi-folding doors were specified for the living area around an open corner, this was later changed to sliding doors in order to match the other sliding doors within the property and reduce the sight-lines when the doors were closed. The doors sit around a 90 degree corner, which allows two side of the living room to be opened up out onto the terrace. The doors feature 3 panes, with 2 moving leafs, allowing two-thirds of the aperture to be opened. Either side of the corner the doors span nearly 6 metres wide each. The lift and slide operation of the doors allow the large panes of glass to be effortlessly opened. By turning the stainless steel handles, the door is lifted up onto its runners and easily glides open.
RAL 7039 – quartz grey, was chosen for the glazing, matching the screening in the gables, and complementing the zinc and stone finish. With a 60 Micron paint finish for added marine protection due to its coastal location.
Aluminium was chosen for the windows and doors for its contemporary appearance and low maintenance.
