Are verandas available in bespoke sizes?

Yes, our verandas can be designed bespoke to you and are made to measure. You’ll be provided with a CAD drawing prior to the manufacturing process.

What is the difference between a veranda, a pergola and a canopy?

Verandas and canopies are structurally similar. A veranda is a ‘lean-to’ structure with a single slope roof attached to a building.

A canopy is a free-standing structure, not attached to a building. The roof of a canopy can be a lean-to type roof (called a mono-pitch roof), which has a gutter along one side, or an apex roof, which is a roof with two slopes that form an ‘A’ shape with the ‘apex’ being the high point where the slopes meet in the middle. An apex roof has a gutter on both sides.

A pergola has a flat roof and can either be connected to a building or be free-standing. The roof is composed of aluminium louvres that can be rotated to open or close, depending on the weather conditions. The louvres are controlled by either an electric motor or a manual winding rod.

Do you offer a delivery-only service?

No. Aspect Windows supplies and installs your veranda, canopy or pergola. We can take care of everything, from quotation, site survey and installation. Everything is managed by us for a convenient and smooth process.

Will I need planning permission?

For the majority of installations, planning permission is not required. However, it is always a good idea to check with your local council, particularly if you plan to put the structure on the front of your property, or live within a conservation area.

Do you offer any guarantees?

Yes, all of our veranda, canopy or pergolas come with a 10-year product warranty, except any LED lights, which are sold as separate accessories and come with a two-year product warranty.

How long do your products take to install?

The time of the installation can vary depending on the size and complexity of the structure. As a guide, a 6m x 3m lean-to veranda with a glass roof could typically take one day to complete. If the veranda were to have fixed glass panels on both sides and sliding glass doors on the front, this could be expected to take two days.

What are the colour options?

There is a choice of 11 standard colour choices, from Morvelle’s new exclusive 11-colour Huescape colour palette, inspired by the natural tones of the British landscape. It includes Fresh White, Cotswold Cream, Field Green, Mossy Olive, Harvest Ochre, Local Navy, Rainfall Blue, Potted Red, Bridle Brown, Anthracite Grey and Midnight Black.

It is also available with a stock mill finish (unpainted), so we can powder coat to any RAL colour, ensuring it matches your space perfectly.

Where does water go?

All of our structures have a concealed unique integral rainwater management system. The aluminium gutter is concealed behind the front fascia, and the water drains away via a plastic downpipe, which is hidden inside the posts of the structure. The downpipe exits the post just above ground level via a hole cut in the post, which enables the water to run off onto the patio, lawn or adjacent flower bed.

Will a veranda block light from my home?

This depends on the type of roof sheets you choose for your structure. Clear glass transmits 89% of visible light, so the light loss inside your home will be minimal and barely noticeable.

If you choose a ‘clear’ polycarbonate roof, the amount of light transmitted is 85%. Opal and bronze can block higher amounts of light, but we will always discuss these details with you when you choose your product.

Is there an option to slide the roofs back?

No, our canopy and veranda roofs are fixed. The roof on a pergola is made up of louvres, which can be rotated open and closed.

Are the structures double-glazed?

No, they are not double-glazed. A veranda has a non-insulated framework (the aluminium profiles are hollow) and the glazed panels comprise of a single piece of glass.
