A pocket door is a sliding door that disappears nearly completely when fully opened. Either into a cavity in the adjacent wall or over the external face of the building.
Pocket doors are a fast growing trend. Offering a stylish, contemporary option for people who are looking to create an architectural feature and help give their extension or brand new home the wow factor.
A pocket door will have an extended track, that allows the door panel to slide back and create a complete opening. Like with bi-folding doors, but without losing space on the patio, when the doors are opened and stacked. Creating a completely open space helps to make the space appear larger.
A pocket door configuration also allows views to be maximised, as fewer, but larger door panes can be used. For example with a non-pocket door configuration, sliding doors would need at least two panes. This is to allow one of the panes to move behind the other when opened. With a pocket door configuration, you can have just the one pane as the door slides into the cavity/alongside the external wall when opened.
Creating a flush floor finish between the inside and outside, helps deliver a seamless transition between the two spaces. Giving you the ability to move freely between the inside and outside of the property.
Combining pocket doors with an open corner configurations will create a truly fantastic feature. An open corner configuration is when two sets of doors meet at a corner, allowing two adjoining walls to be opened. When combined with a pocket door configuration the doors can be opened from the corner and slide back into the pocket. Creating a truly open corner and a spectacular architectural feature.
A pocket door requires a cavity inside your wall, therefore this will need to be considered at the point of design. We work with some of the best solutions on the market for pocket sliding doors.
